Road Safety Patrol-RSP

““The Best Way to Find Yourself is to Lose Yourself in the Service of Others”.”

With the Motto “We live to serve” the Road Safety Patrol of St. Vincent’s showed tremendous growth during the academic year 2013-2014 under the guidance of our Dear Principal Rev. F. Johny Koikara.

R.S.P exists in schools throughout the world. In addition to providing safe passage for fellow students, they help police in maintaining traffic. The Students who participate in the road safety patrol develop important qualities and personal skills including leadership and a sense of social responsibility.

The R.S.P is involved in the educational aspect of Road Safety.

The primary functions of a Road Safety Patrol are to instruct, direct and control students in crossing the roadway at (or) near schools and to assist teachers and parents in the instruction of schools children in safe pedestrian practices at all times and places.

The R.S.P members would stand near the school gates before and after school time to ensure congestion. They free traffic and help students to cross the road. They regulate the traffic near the school premises. They will also spread the message of road safety measures to their families and neighborhoods.

In the academic year 2012-2013 Janarthan Raj of XI–A  received the Governor award on Republic day Parade. Our R.S.P cadets participated in several competitions like drawing, speech, and essay writing in both English and Tamil. Annual camp held in Yelagiri hills from 22/11/2012 – 25/11/2012. This camp was headed by Mr. Kumaresan the traffic warden, 50 students enthusiastically participated in the camp. Several games were conducted and students won prizes.

R.S.P teachers training programme is going to be held for our R.S.P incharges Mr. Carmel and Mr. Murugesan. This year we have planned to conduct Annual Camp also.
